About
Autonomy & EV News
Autonomy & EV News is an independent publication covering autonomous driving, electric vehicles, and the regulatory ecosystem that decides which of them are allowed on public roads.
We write the kind of analysis we wanted to read and could not find. No retyped press releases. No marketing varnish. No filler. If a story does not have a point to make, we don't publish it.
Three regions, one beat
Autonomy and EVs are a global story being told in three different regulatory languages. We cover all three.
- United States. Tesla FSD, Waymo, NHTSA rulemaking, state-level robotaxi permits, NACS charging build-out. This is where the volume coverage lives.
- Europe. Mercedes Drive Pilot, EU type approval, Germany's L4 framework, fleet electrification mandates, CCS-to-NACS questions, the regulatory consequences of accidents in Paris and Stockholm.
- Asia. BYD, XPeng, NIO, Li Auto, the Chinese robotaxi operators, the Korean and Japanese OEM responses, and the Tier-1 supplier ecosystem that increasingly defines what every other region's cars can ship.
Who writes here
Yair Knijn, founder and editor-in-chief, writes the lead column and most policy reads. Based in the Netherlands.
Contributing writers cover the regional beats: M. Okonkwo on autonomy and Tesla, R. Kavanagh on US and EU policy, Y. Tanaka on Asia, plus the rest of the desk.
What we don't do
We don't accept paid placements. We don't run sponsored content dressed up as editorial. Our analysis is what it looks like, and our opinions are signed.
