Mercedes Benz has opened pre orders in China for its all new battery electric GLC. The entry price sits at 51300 USD according to CarNewsChina reporting.

Pricing Details

The base model carries a 96 kWh battery pack and supports 800 volt charging. Deposit requirements and delivery windows follow standard China market patterns for new Mercedes models. No range or power output figures were released in the initial announcement.

Market Position

China remains the largest single market for Mercedes Benz passenger vehicles. The company posted China order intake data for the first quarter of 2026 in its Mercedes Benz Group Q1 2026 China Sales Update. The electric GLC joins a crowded segment already served by local makers offering comparable range and charging speeds at lower prices.

AutonomyEV's opinion

The 51300 USD starting point places the vehicle in direct competition with established Chinese battery electric SUVs. Operators should track actual order conversion rates and margin data once volume deliveries begin rather than relying on preorder announcements. Mercedes will need clear cost advantages in production or software features to sustain volume against domestic rivals.
