Discussion in the electric-vehicles community recently surfaced a drive impression of the Polestar 5, putting fresh attention on how Polestar is shaping its flagship as a battery-electric grand tourer. The published materials center on an 800 volt electrical architecture, large-pack energy storage, and power delivery suited to sustained highway use.
Battery, charging, and range
On its global Polestar 5 page, Polestar specifies an 800V system with a dual-motor layout rated at 650 kW, roughly 870 horsepower, and WLTP range of up to 678 kilometers, about 421 miles. TFLcar's Munich debut write-up reports the same 800V foundation, DC fast charging up to 350 kW, and a 112-kWh SK On battery pack. That outlet quotes WLTP range up to 416 miles on the Dual Motor variant and 351 miles on the Performance model, with output figures of 872 hp for Performance and 738 hp for the standard dual-motor car.
Earlier chatter around a 600-mile target does not match these published figures. Final homologation numbers may still shift, and EPA-rated range for U.S. buyers will likely read lower than WLTP claims.
Chassis and production timeline
Polestar describes a bonded and cured aluminium unibody on its official product page, an approach aimed at structural rigidity and weight control in a large sedan. The Polestar 5 Wikipedia entry records a public debut at the 2025 Munich Motor Show and production commencing in 2026.

The circulating video largely echoes engineering details Polestar has already committed to in writing. For operators and retail buyers evaluating a long-distance EV, the honest range baseline is what Polestar and independent debut coverage now quote, well short of any 600-mile figure. Charging behavior at 350 kW and real-world consumption still need verified test data as the 2026 production start approaches.
