GM is standardizing its electric vehicle interface across most models. The 2027 Cadillac Lyriq stands apart by keeping wired Apple CarPlay.
CarPlay Decision
InsideEVs reported that the refreshed Lyriq will retain the feature. Other GM EVs have already moved to a native system without CarPlay or Android Auto support. Cadillac positions the Lyriq as a luxury product, which may explain the exception for this one vehicle.
Charge Port Change
The 2027 model switches to the North American Charging Standard port. GM confirmed this connector change for its electric lineup. Owners will gain direct access to the Tesla Supercharger network without adapters for the main charging session.
Price Adjustment
Cadillac is raising the starting price by a modest amount alongside these updates. The change aligns with added hardware for the new port and any software revisions required for continued CarPlay operation.
AutonomyEV's opinion
GM's broader push to control the software experience makes sense for data collection and updates. Keeping CarPlay only on the Lyriq looks like a narrow concession to luxury buyers rather than a reversal. The NACS move is straightforward infrastructure alignment that reduces friction for long trips. Operators watching GM's EV rollout will track whether this split persists or if CarPlay disappears from the Lyriq in later years as well.
